1) This business idea would be something that at first would consume my time and I would be very involved. After meeting people and hiring the right people and seeing if they work out I would allow them to run the business. I would step back and collect my money but move onto the next idea.
2) I am offering customers gas to fill up their car and food to fill up their stomachs. The point of my business is to satisfy two very innate desire one not to be hungry and two the need to explore. Also a co-worker in sense to the professional drivers.
3) All my customers need to fill up on natural resources either food or gas. They are all hungry. Hungry in the natural way or hungry in the need gas kind of way.
4) People will pay me because I will satisfy there most basic urges in a quick and convenient way. Most are just making a pit stop and do not want to be bothered by the extravagant. They just to satisfy their urges as quickly as possible and be on their way.
5) Right now location. Since there are no new gas station or restaurants being built yet. Also we will provide the quickest and cleanest service to the customer.
Hi Bradley.
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas of stepping back and letting others run your business while you move on to the next idea, although I do think that the business has to be established to a certain level before that is a feasible option. I would like to have seen more detail as to why you are the right person to start this business.
I don’t think, after all the processing these substances undergo to become gasoline or diesel fuel, that these can really be considered natural resources! Natural resources are sources of wealth that occur in nature, such as forests and mineral deposits. Oil qualifies, fuel doesn’t.
Core competencies- I’m not sure that location counts, since as soon as you build others will quickly follow suit. Location will only be a core competency (if it qualifies at all) as long as you are the only such business in that immediate area. Location may not qualify as a core competency since it can be easily imitated- ie, your competitor could build right beside you or across the street from you.
You did not include a feedback memo as requested in the assignment, summarizing two main points that you took away from the feedback you received, and how you incorporated that feedback into your current idea napkin. Also, you didn’t include a picture of an actual feedback napkin-it wasn’t required but would have been a nice touch.
Hey Bradley,
ReplyDeleteI think that with your idea, convenience is going to be the biggest thing that will make your idea successful. Since I travel a lot with work, and I am on tight time restraints, quick and easy is always my go-to. I find myself many times eating fast food because of it is fast and easy. I find myself also getting gas from higher priced stations just because it is convenient. Time is money. If you can provide fast and easy products, people will swarm to that.

Bradley,
ReplyDeleteI like this post, short and sweet and too the point. All of the information here would be useful if you were trying to create an elevator pitch. You pretty much have all the information right here, the problem, and your solution. This combo would make for a very dynamic and quick pitch if you are able to successfully pull it off.
Hi Bradley,
ReplyDeleteI like that you plan to provide the “quickest and cleanest” service. This could be a very big advantage if other competitors start building in your area. If you can maintain these standards, it would not only bring in travelers who stop by but would help solidify the relationship with locals. I have found that once an establishment starts going down in service and cleanliness, I find a new place to go. But, if a local place keeps a high standard, I am likely to keep coming back.
